The beautiful Apache-Sitgreaves forest, full of Ponderosa Pines, oaks and junipers, breathtaking views, and a multitude of outdoor recreational opportunities, is prime Arizona camping country. Both U.S. Forest Service and private campgrounds dot the Mogollon Rim up to elevations of 7700ft. During summer (typically May through July), be sure to check for fire restrictions while Arizona remains in drought status.
Another excellent resource for fire information in the area is www.593info.org. This site has information about active fires and other emergencies in the White Mountain and Mogollon Rim areas. You can also call "593" from any land-line in Southern Navajo and Apache Counties and get even more up-to-the-minute fire and emergency information. This website and phone number are must-have's if you live or recreate within Arizona's White Mountains or Mogollon Rim.
