Lone Eagle Outdoors is now on Twitter.  We are listed @loneeagleheber and our intention is to provide regular updates on conditions at the lakes, in the forest, anything related to hunting, etc.  We hope our customers find this service to be a valuable tool as you plan your outdoor adventures on the Mogollon Rim.

Unlimited Bass Now Allowed from Mogollon Rim Lakes ....Check out the AZGFD Fishing Regulations for 2009-2010, pages 2 and 16 --  both large and small mouth bass no longer have bag limits at the Mogollon Rim Lakes.  You can thank the folks that illegally introduced these species into our Rim Lakes over the past several years.  These lakes are managed for the rainbow trout that are stocked there each summer, and bass upset the ecosystem needed for the trout to thrive.

Even if you don't plan to eat them, if you pull a bass from the lake, please do NOT throw it back in.  Throw it in the trash if you must, as long as it no longer lives in the lake!  This is a serious issue that could threaten the future recreational value of these fishing lakes, and we're all better off with the bass removed.  Thank you!

Hunter Education Courses...AZGFD website is the best source of info

....AZ Game and Fish Department now offers an online Hunter Education course.  This is a very useful option for residents of the Heber-Overgaard area as we so rarely have instructor-led courses here in the community.  The online course still requires a field day, but the webpage provides all of this information.

When classes are taught in the area, or anywhere in the state for that matter, they are posted on the above website as soon as the class has been scheduled.  Hunter Education is required by law for youth ages ten (10) to fourteen (14) to hunt big game.  However, the course is open to all ages and family participation in encouraged.  Courses are taught by local valunteer instructors certified by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
